Assistant Director, Academic and Student Affairs (01058)

The Assistant Director serves as a part of the team in the Academic and Student Affairs Division.  The team provides professional counsel and support to the Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, the Chancellor, and the Board of Governors regarding a wide range of higher education issues.

The Assistant Director provides direct professional support on matters related to academic and student affairs.  This includes but is not limited to academic degree program coordination, oversight of policy issues and program areas, and policy implementation.  The Assistant Director conducts policy research and analysis and provides support to Board and System committees.  This position does not directly supervise any employees.   

Responsibilities, duties, and activities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Reviewing proposals and making recommendations regarding academic degree programs at state universities.
  • Managing various databases and inventories associated with the unit.
  • Providing direct support for Board Committees by preparing agendas, agenda items, supporting documents, presentations, reports, minutes, and other materials and background information.
  • Conducting academic and student affairs policy analyses, including reviewing legislative bills, Board regulations, and special reports.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in program planning and review, strategic planning, conducting research and policy analysis, or other relevant experience
  • Understanding of higher education policy issues
  • Ability to manage and analyze large datasets using Excel, SPSS, or SAS software
  • In-depth understanding of the legislative process
  • Experience creating data visualizations using Canva or similar software

Hiring Range
Salary range $55,000 - $65,000, based on qualifications and experience.
