Distributed Computer Systems Analyst II

The Florida Agency for State Technology (AST) seeks to hire talented and dedicated individuals who share our commitment to excellence. The incumbent in this position supports the Windows services environment within the Agency for State Technology’s State Data Center (SDC).  The SDC maintains a 24 hour, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, data center operation providing utility computing services to state agencies and other governmental entities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years (3) of experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming.
  • Experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  • Selected individual must be willing and able to work the scheduled hours for this position, which is four-10 hour work days, Sunday through Wednesday, 2:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.


Preference will be given to applicants who hold current Microsoft certifications.

Background Screening Requirement:

A criminal background investigation, including fingerprinting and statewide and national criminal history records checks, is a condition of employment in this position.


Salary will be based on the State of Florida minimum pay grade for the position.  Consideration may also be given to an applicant’s relevant knowledge, skills, abilities and available agency funds.

In addition to the base salary, this position includes a 5% shift differential pay additive for the evening shift.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The incumbent in this position is a member of the Build, Operate and Maintain section within the Bureau of Windows Services and is responsible for supporting the Windows services environment of the State Data Center.

Internal Processes & Support

Facilitates product purchases and maintenance renewal efforts

Develops documentation for support processes, systems and procedures

Participates in the change management process

Tracks time for Professional Services billing purposes

Research and Planning

Assists leadership in establishing objectives, setting goals and establishing unit priorities

Evaluates product enhancements to ensure continuous product improvement

Service Delivery

Demonstrates, models and reinforces the agency's fundamental values of fairness, cooperation, respect, commitment, excellence, honesty and teamwork

Provides quality and professional customer service

Coordinates with vendors and service providers to resolve technical support issues

Must be available for on-call and/or overtime duties as required.

Administers hosted server software

Manages and maintains server operating systems. Including troubleshooting and patch management

Systems Maintenance

Performs hardware and software upgrades to improve system reliability, functionality and manageability

Monitors server and application performance for reliability, security and quality assurance

Maintains hardware and software
