MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in communications, broadcasting or English and three (3) years of professional experience in radio or television productions or programming.

Professional or non-professional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for year basis for the required college education.

Requires possession of a valid Driver License.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Flexibility in work schedule is required.  Ability to frequently travel statewide on short notice as needed is required.

JOB DUTIES:

This is a highly responsible position that requires excellent organizational, project and time management skills to produce, write, direct and edit audio and video programs in the areas of public affairs, information, education and promotion.  The incumbent must: be able to ascertain the scope and complexity of a project and work within a team environment to deliver a high-quality audio-video product; be able to work with internal and external clients who may be inexperienced in audio-video production to help focus their messages within a workable audio-video format; be responsible for accuracy, the production process, schedules and deadlines; be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-oriented environment; represent the department with extreme professionalism and a strong sense of customer service; be proactive and detail oriented; possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; possess strong personal computing skills and non-linear audio-video editing skills; be a creative storyteller via edited audio and video; be able to respond quickly to changing priorities; and travel statewide on short notice as needed.  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency in performing non-linear editing on Mac platform.
  • Proficiency in writing short-form and long-form scripts.
  • Proficiency in working with HD and/or 4K video. 
  • Proficiency working within Adobe Creative Cloud software with emphasis on Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Photoshop. 
  • Proficiency in encoding video/audio to QT, MP4, WMV, WAV, MP3, and similar formats. 
  • Proficiency in exporting and compression techniques necessary for broadcast television, web, and new media outlets. 
  • Ability to operate professional broadcast-quality video cameras (HD and/or 4K).
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to prioritize work. 
  • Ability to be detail oriented. 
  • Ability to carry equipment weighing over 40 pounds for extended periods of time.
