This advertisement is for multiple Career Service positions located in the Office of Information Technology in Tallahassee, Florida.

Salary Range: $43,507.36 - $85,867.24.

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

Under the direction of Secretary, Julie Jones, the Florida Department of Corrections (DC) is the 3rd largest state prison system in the country with a budget of 2.4 billion, approximately 99,000 inmates incarcerated and another 140,000 offenders on active community supervision. The DC has 142 facilities and more than 24,000 staff members statewide, making it the State’s largest agency.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will provide application program development and support in the department’s client server environment.  The duties and responsibilities of this position are:

 

  • Evaluate business/user requirements and then develop new software applications from concept to finish, with regular tests and maintenance.

  • Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.  

  • Develop and monitor technical standards, procedures, and techniques for the development team

  • Document new/existing frameworks and cross-train applications development staff as required.

  • Develop and manage a comprehensive unit test plan and establish the relationship between unit and system testers by clarifying the objectives of unit testing – including the role of the programmers as the primary testers.

  • Review and implement quality assurance techniques that will make the applications development effort more productive.

  • Ensure application promotions are properly planned, scheduled, and implemented.

  •  Determine the best UI Framework to accomplish the department’s ever-changing programming needs.

  • Provide technical advice and technical assistance to Systems Development and other bureaus in troubleshooting problems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s):

Essential/Entry Level KSA’s:

  • .NET/Xamarin mobile development

  • Javascript experience (bootstrap framework)

  • Experience developing in an AngularJS framework

  • Experience working with Web Services across multiple platforms

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of computer programming and systems analysis.

  • Ability to communicate technical data processing information effectively.

     

Full Performance Level KSA’s:

  • IOS/Android mobile development experience

  • Developing applications for Corporate owned devices with mobile device management.

  • UI developer experience (Design, HTML/CSS/JS)

  • UX experience (Research/Design)

  • Knowledge of project control and resource estimating techniques.

  • Knowledge of operating system and telecommunications concepts.

  • Knowledge of computer operations procedures and systems.

  • Ability to prioritize workload.

  • Ability to document processes and cross-train programming staff

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience developing in a mobile environment using .NET/Xamarin

  • Experience JavaScript coding within multiple frameworks
