This position provides a variety of accounting skills and performs balancing operations.  The specific responsibilities of this position are described below.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • This position is exempt under F.S. 110.25 (2)(w), supervisory.  As a supervisor, this position will communicate with, motivate, provide or coordinate training, evaluate employees’ work, plan and direct employees work, and has authority to recommend to hire, transfer or discipline employees.
  • Timely reconciliation, at least monthly, of the computerized Florida Accounting Information Resource records for the Department of Education to the State CFO ledgers.  This includes reconciliation of cash, disbursements, receipts and budget releases.  Researches problems and prepares or notifies the appropriate personnel to prepare the necessary correction.  Also, ensures that necessary corrections are timely entered by appropriate staff.
  • Reconciles investment, prorate, inter-agency transfers and capital improvement fee records, and Florida Education Foundation accounts on a monthly basis.  Reconciles Textbook Bid, Publisher Instructional Material fee, and property records on a monthly basis, or sooner if time permits.  Reviews Division of Blind Services local account reconciliations and related trial balances on a monthly basis.
  • Reconciles federal drawdowns and local scholarship accounts (Levy, Henderson and Peebles Scholarships monthly.  Reconciles inter and intra agency transfers at least quarterly and confirms those with other agencies quarterly.  Reconciles restitution and settlement agreement accounts monthly.
  • Prepares the Publicly Traded Securities Report and submits it to the SBA quarterly. 
  • Maintain Public Deposit Identification and Acknowledgment forms.  Prepare, obtain necessary signature and submit the Public Depositor Annual Report to the Chief Financial Officer by due date.
  • Prepare and timely submit the annual perquisites report.
  • Assists with the preparation of financial statement forms and related analyses at the agency level for inclusion in the State of Florida Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
  • Requests component unit financial information, and submits required statements and forms to the Department of Financial Services in accordance with CAFR guidelines.
  • Assists with completion of the department’s Schedule Is (column A01) which are part of the Legislative Budget Requests (LBR).
  • Review and adjust cash balances between budget entities and/or grants within fund.
