The position is responsible for supervising staff who work with the compliance and enforcement of the Onsite Sewage Treatment and Disposal Systems Programs. The position works with the Environmental Administrator to ensure these programs are operated in compliance with state and federal requirements. The position also performs inspection, compliance and other related tasks in these programs. The selected candidate will be responsible for planning and assigning staff workloads/workflows, establishing work product quality standards, developing performance plans/appraisals, coaching staff and identifying workforce needs.


Must have 10 or more years’ experience in the Florida Department of Health’s Onsite Sewage Treatment and Disposal System Program.  Must have one or more years’ experience conducting quality control audits and compliance activities using the Onsite Sewage Program Evaluation Tool.  Must have a valid driver’s license and daily use of a reliable private vehicle.  Must be willing and physically able to work outdoors under extreme environmental conditions.  Must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the physical or natural sciences and three years of professional experience in environmental protection, regulation or health; OR  a master's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the physical or natural sciences and two years of professional experience as described above OR a bachelor’s degree in engineering or environmental health and two years of professional experience as described above.
