PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

 

Four (4) years’ experience in systems programming, networking, and telecommunications.

PREFERRED

EDUCATION:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years' of experience in computer systems analysis, computer programming, or in planning or designing distributed computer systems; or 5 years' of experience in information technology or security.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This is work in a data processing environment in the Division of Disability Determinations.  The position provides support for users of a statewide multifunction automated office system consisting of workstations with MS Desktop applications and minicomputers.  The position requires the ability to work both under direct supervision and independently in carrying out the duties and responsibilities.  This position will be designated to be on-call.      

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

LAN administrator - including installation of new hardware, configuration of operating systems and updates as required. Administration of WAN Security devices including router and firewall.   

 

Administrator for the statewide building security system – including conducting quarterly internal and external security audits of all area offices, analyzing security breaches to determine their root cause and recommend and install appropriate tools and countermeasures, and maintaining the systems following DDD policies and procedures.  Implements security improvements by assessing current situation; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.

 

HSPD process for prospective and current staff including completing all required paperwork, fingerprinting, and issuing PIV cards.

 

Coordinates and/or participates in the activities necessary to provide comprehensive planning, implementation and support of Social Security Administration's (SSA) Intelligent Workstation/Local Area Network (IWS/LAN).     

 

Assists with the installation, configuration, repair and management of telephone system.

 

Recommends priorities for systems development.   

 

Performs related work as required.   

 

Incumbent may have to perform essential services related to systems during periods of disaster or other emergency conditions.

   

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), TCP/IP, computer networking, routing and switching, Microsoft Server Operating Systems, Active Directory, Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Desktop applications, and minicomputer connectivity.
