SPECIAL NOTES:

A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university is required.

Preference will be given to applicants with:

  • A bachelor’s degree in risk management, safety science, business administration, finance or accounting.
  • A master’s degree in risk management, safety science, public administration or business administration.
  • Certification as an Associate in Risk Management or as a Certified Safety Professional.

Additional preferences will be given to applicants with:

  • Two (2) or more year’s supervisory experience.
  • Four (4) or more years’ experience conducting and supervising audits, program reviews and/or conducting safety inspections.
  • Two (2) or more years’ experience conducting or supervising training in the areas of risk management, safety or loss prevention.

The salary for this position will be commensurate with the successful applicant’s experience and will range from $46,381 to $55,000 annually.

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to evaluate complex data for significant trends using advanced data management skills & programs. 
  • Proficient report writer, using excellent grammar, complex analytical skills, punctuation, & plain language.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with peers, direct reports, & customers in effectively accomplishing duties & responsibilities.
  • Ability to reduce abstract principals to plain language goals, objectives, & standards.
  • Excellent leadership skills, including ability to supervise staff.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply principals of quality assurance.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

This position leads the statewide loss prevention program administered by the Department of Financial Services, Division of Risk Management.  As such, the incumbent:

  • Supervises a section of six professional and nonprofessional loss prevention staff;
  • Develops and executes loss prevention projects and programs;
  • Performs data analysis to support loss prevention programs and agency loss prevention program reviews;
  • Collaborates with state entities and Division management to assure that loss prevention projects support the Division’s strategic plan and are relevant and meaningful to the Division’s insured entities;
  • Provides risk management program technical assistance and consultations to the Division’s insured entities;
  • Develops and maintains risk management program evaluation guidelines;
  • Conducts reviews of agency risk management programs to evaluate and report on return to work, safety and loss prevention programs, including identification of any recommended corrective actions to those programs;
  • Conducts training for agency safety coordinators to allow them to develop and implement agency loss prevention programs and comprehensive safety programs
