Your Specific Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized or group specialized counseling services to targeted/contracted groups (examples: ex-offenders, dislocated workers, veterans, Migrant and Seasonal Farm Workers, etc.) using standardized counseling techniques which will assist customers in deciding on vocational goals and employability plans for entrance into employment.
- Provide assistance with job seekers visiting the resource room with their job search, re-employment applications, resumes, labor market research or any other employability service needed to assist the job seeker with their return to work.
- Provide assistance with answering phones and directing calls to appropriate staff persons.
- Provide services to RA customers and assist them with their return to work.
- Assess customers for job readiness through aptitudes, interests, personal characteristics, education, and work history demographics.
- Coordinate services with state and local agencies and private employers for job development and referrals.
- Maintain accurate case records including tracking customers' employability plans. Maintain appropriate documentation for support services and conduct follow-ups on customers on a regularly scheduled basis.
- Refer the customer to community resources for appropriate employment-related services and perform placement services as required.
- Serve as subject matter expert in services relating to Re-Employment Assistance, MSFW, Federal Bonding, and Sex-offenders; Provide technical assistance to regional staff in these subjects including developing training.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in individual and group settings, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective customer service and the ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Working knowledge/experience using Microsoft applications.
- Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous, and effective manner.
- Knowledge of the basic principles of counseling and case management.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments.
- Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Working knowledge/experience using Microsoft Office applications, incl. Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective customer service

- Skilled in group presentations or workshop instruction and/or facilitation
- Ability to promote and market the Career Center

Qualifications:
As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.
Minimum:
- Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.
- Travel may be required.
Preferred:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the field of Sociology or Psychology. Professional or nonprofessional experience in areas related to counseling, administrative experience, or reemployment assistance policy may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the preferred college education.
- Prior experience within a CareerSource center.
Pay:
$20.00 per hour.

- As an OPS Employment Security Representative II (OPS ESRII) you will assist job seekers with applying for reemployment assistance, search for jobs, create and improve their resume, provide labor market information, apply for jobs answer questions regarding job openings and how to apply for the jobs. You will also assist employers with filling their open positions and provide them with qualified candidates for their openings.
- Your role as an OPS ESRII is a very important role within our community as it assists with alleviating unemployment and increases our economy. The economy is the wealth and resources of our community especially in terms of production and the consumption of goods and services
- The job is in downtown Gainesville, Florida, at 1112 N Main St. and accessible to restaurants, stores and other local businesses. The name of the business is CareerSource North Central Florida. You will be working in the customer service department.
- The OPS ESRII position will be responsible for putting our unemployed job seekers back to work or assisting in finding a better position for those that are underemployed.
