DDDP is a forensic facility working with individuals with disabilities in a secure setting.  These individuals have been adjudicated by the courts as incompetent to proceed to trial and have significant behavioral and psychiatric issues.  DDDP provides rehabilitative, vocational, and daily living skills training to the individuals served which allows for a smooth transition back into a non-secure residential or community setting. 

Advanced Prevention and Safety Strategies (PASS) certification and CPR Certification required, with annual updates provided through Staff Development.     

The incumbent in this position performs direct care duties at a specialized secure unit, serving residents who have been adjudicated incompetent to proceed to trial for alleged criminal offenses due to their intellectual disabilities. 

Monitors residents, documents resident’s behaviors, records census, assists residents with routine activities and intervenes in crisis situations. Makes regular inspections of areas to ensure the physical plant is safe and secure. Completes various required reports on a daily basis.   

Assist treatment team in carrying out prescribed functions and specialized programs. These may include but are not limited to self-care and daily living skills, vocational and leisure development.

Participates in the maintenance of a clean and hygienic living environment for the residents. 

Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT(S)

A valid driver’s license. License suspended or revoked for any reason, work permits (Business purpose/ Employment/Education only license) and some types of restricted license are not acceptable. Licenses that have “Corrective Lenses Restricted,” are acceptable, provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.

 

 PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma, and minimum of two (2) years’ experience providing care and treatment for people with developmental disabilities.

 

 WORK SCHEDULE

This position is located at a 24-hour facility.  Staff members must be agreeable to working a shift schedule; regular, evening, or night. Days Off: Varies.

Employees may be required to work additional days/hours based upon the needs of the facility and center.  This includes, but is not limited to:  ensuring facility coverage, activities, holidays, and emergency situations.
