This position performs independent and complex administrative and consultative work providing operational and management coordination for plan management functions within the Bureau of Medicaid Plan Management Operations. This position will be located in Ft. Lauderdale. This position is full-time, requires a five-day work week (Monday-Friday, 8:00-5:00)

Reviewing administrative policies, procedures, guidelines and related directives impacting managed care plan operations and claims management activities.

Identifying potential program and operational issues and recommending appropriate action.

Maintaining up-to-date knowledge concerning the Florida Medicaid Program.

Conducting program and planning activities.

Performing programmatic monitoring activities for Medicaid managed care plans.

Conducting program training and providing technical assistance to Medicaid managed care plans.

Conducting program evaluation activities.

Analyzing managed care plan procedures in assigned areas.

Coordinating and participating in meetings with the Agency and with managed care organizations for the purpose of representing the Medicaid program and managed care plan management operations.


This position requires travel.

Upon commencement of employment in compliance with Agency policy, the incumbent shall receive New Employee Orientation, Plain Language, Customer Service, Sexual Harassment, Cultural Diversity, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Ethics, Supervisor, Computer Security Awareness, HIPAA and Medicaid 101 training.


  • Knowledge of Medicaid eligibility, programs, policies, and limitations.
  • Knowledge and ability in computer skills such as Microsoft Office 2016(Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Access).
  • Knowledge of the techniques used in compiling and analyzing data.
  • Ability to make decisions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to verify accuracy of data.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff.

  • At least two years of related work experience with health insurance claims billing (commercial/government programs) is required.
  • At least two years of experience conducting monitoring activities related to a healthcare program is required.
  • At least two years of experience interpreting policies and procedures and providing technical assistance is required. 
  • At least two years of experience using computers and various software programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and Power Point is required. 
  • A bachelor's degree or degree in a healthcare field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Professional or non-professional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the preferred college education.
