Job Description

The Criminal Division supports the court by providing comprehensive case management services starting with intake and investigation, supervision, and case management, to supporting problem solving courts. The position of Court Program Specialist provides support to the Criminal Division and the court.  The position responsibilities are temporary in order to assist with operational needs as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic impact. This is an OPS position (no benefits) using non-reoccurring funds.  This position is funded through January of 2022. The Court Program Specialist is a professional and highly responsible position assigned to assist in performing a variety of duties.  The Court Program Specialist is expected to monitor and control the progress of cases that have been delayed due to the pandemic and ensure court hearings are rescheduled, as necessary.  Alternative arrangements are facilitated should a court user be denied entrance to the court facility due to implemented health and safety screening protocols. The Court Program Specialist also ensures access to the courts is preserved by facilitating electronic livestreaming of court events on YouTube, via Zoom. The incumbent must exercise independent judgment and initiative within their scope of authority.  Work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures.  Under the direction of the Criminal Division Director, the Court Program Specialist will be required to make prompt notifications, track specific data, be able to operate a computer and online applications, and perform other duties as required. 
The core responsibilities of Court Program Specialist are: Screening and court rescheduling; Court attendance & livestreaming of trials; Case monitoring and general support; and Other duties as assigned to assist with supporting the criminal division.

Knowledge Skills Abilities

Knowledge of: Organization’s mission and functions and how its systems work to operate effectively, including programs, policies, and procedures. Basic structure of the Florida State Courts System and the criminal justice system. Computer applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Outlook.

 Ability to: Assess needs, provide information assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations. Provide accurate, professional, polite, and prompt customer service to the public and other agency personnel, AOC employees, and the Judiciary. Communicate professionally with persons from various backgrounds who may be experiencing a variety of stressful conditions. Demonstrate interpersonal skills and understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, and concern. Publicly speak and express information while maintaining confidentiality. Work well under pressure, multi-task and meet established timelines. Follow written and oral instructions and procedures. Maintain detailed and accurate records. Operate databases to include Microsoft Outlook, IJIS, Odyssey, Court Connect, Zoom and Youtube.

Education and EXPERIENCE Guidelines

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in public or business administration, criminal justice, psychology, sociology, pre-law, or a closely related field. Additional relevant education may substitute for the recommended experience on a year-for-year basis, excluding supervisory experience. 
Experience: Two years of professional related experience.

*This advertisement is for one forty (40) hours a week position and one thirty-two (32) hours a week position.

*The positions are grant funded for a limited time. The term is expected to end January 30th, 2022 unless the grant is extended, or another funding source becomes available.
