DESCRIPTION 

The Office of Information Technology Services within the Department of Children and Families is seeking an individual to serve in a full-time position as an Application Systems Programmer.  This position will assist with the development of web applications that support the department’s executive and administrative management offices and programs. 

This position will be part of application development team supporting a wide portfolio of applications. The majority of responsibility will be in the maintenance, support, and enhancements of existing applications with opportunities to participate in major project efforts.  

 

EXAMPLES OF WORK 

  • Monitors production applications and recommends application and process improvements. 
  • Researches problems and recommends solutions to reported application incidents. 
  • Assist in the gathering of business requirements and their translation into design specifications. 
  • Participate in application design reviews. 
  • Assists in the development of application development policies, procedures and architecture frameworks and standards. 
  • Codes enhancements/corrections to existing applications and develops new applications based on design specifications using DCF standard tools. 
  • Conducts unit testing of all code packages and resolves issues. 
  • Participates in the creation of System Test plans. 
  • Participates in System testing and resolves issues. 
  • Participates in the creation of User Acceptance Test plans. 
  • Participates in User Acceptance testing and resolves issues. 
  • Assists in the planning, coordination, and execution of production deployments for existing and new applications. 
  • Assists in the resolution of post-deployment issues.   

     

    EXAMPLES OF KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

  • Knowledgeable of network foundations underlying web applications and IIS configuration settings 
  • Knowledgeable of web security 
  • Knowledgeable of relational database concepts 
  • Knowledgeable of version control 
  • Experienced in HTML, XML, and C#
  • Experienced in writing web applications in .NET 3.5 or higher versions 
  • Experienced in writing SQL statements 
  • Experienced in in Object Oriented Programming
  • Experienced in using Visual Studio
  • Experienced in creating MVC applications
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work and handle concurrent assignment. 
  • Ability to discuss technical issues and contribute to making sound decisions 
  • Ability to write technical documentation and status reports 
  • Ability to contribute to a high-performing, motivated work group by applying interpersonal communication and collaboration skills to achieve project goals 
  • Ability to work with business units and business analysts to understand business requirements 
  • Ability to translate business requirements into program specifications
  • Ability to write test scripts from requirement and specification documents 
  • Ability to research and troubleshoot web applications  

     

    REQUIREMENTS: 

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in Information Technology providing application development and support services. 
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience developing ASP.NET web applications. 
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in writing SQL Server queries and stored procedures.  
  • Willing to work at the Gainesville location

     

    PREFERENCES: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology. 
  • Some experience working with an enterprise version control tool such as Team Foundation Server.
