Program Description

The Florida Conservation Corps (FLCC) AmeriCorps program is administered by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Florida Park Service with members serving at state parks throughout Florida. Members serving with Project T.R.E.C. (Trail Restoration and Enhancement Corps) serve as a traveling team, focused on trail assessment, creation, improvement, and maintenance in Florida’s state parks. Members will serve in many state parks throughout the course of the service term, and will act as advocates for trail user accessibility. Members will also act as an AmeriCorps Disaster Response Team (A-DRT), and must be available for immediate deployment in the event of a disaster.

 

Applicants should be advised that this position will require regular travel; approximately 3 weeks out of each month. Members meet in Gainesville, FL between service projects to complete other service related activities, and are responsible for their own housing accommodations when serving in Gainesville. While on service assignment, members will tent-camp (provided) or stay in Florida State Park lodging (cabins, trailers, etc.), and are provided meals through team grocery purchase. Additional details shall be provided upon selection for an interview.

 

This is an AmeriCorps member position, with members required to serve 1700 hours between February 5, 2018 – December 31, 2018. This equates to approximately 35 – 40 hours per week. FLCC AmeriCorps members are not employees, but rather are engaged in an eleven-month term of National Service.
