LABORER TECHNICIAN

APD TACACHALE

GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA

 

The incumbent in this position is responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:

 

Mowing with riding mower, tractors and, and/or large mowers at Evergreen Cemetery, Nemnans Lake and Tacachale campus.  Cleaning fence rows. Leveling grounds for new fence and for planting grass or plants. Ensures campus is clean and in safe condition.  Uses bucket truck to trim limbs in high areas.  Performs work with heavy equipment such as a dump truck and chipper.  Ensure safety when operating equipment.

 

Pick up trash around campus and dispose of properly.  Pick up and dispose of bio-hazardous material properly.  Supervise and transport inmate crews to and from work areas in accordance with Department of Corrections rules and regulations.

 

Preventative maintenance on equipment such as: lubricate weekly and change oil in equipment.  Replace belts whenever necessary, sharpen blades weekly or exchange whenever needed.  Ensures shop is clean and tools are put away correctly and safely.

 

Knowledge, Skills and abilities:

 

Must have knowledge of inmate training rules and regulations

Must have the ability to use hand tools

Must have the ability to use lawn mowers, tractors, edgers and weed eaters

Must have the ability to operate backhoe, tractor and fork list
