Responsibilities:

This position may require bending, squatting, or standing for extended periods of time and may require lifting of up to 100 pounds. The incumbent in this position is responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:

Install, maintain, and repair pump motors, air handler motors, and valve motors. Read schematic and wiring diagrams to trace electric control circuits for bad components and troubleshoot for faults in them. Test relays and start and run capacitors. Replace blower belts. Clean and maintain air handler units. Clean and maintain air handler closets. Clean air vents and duct work. Clean coils. Changes air filters.

Assist with renovations. Measure, cut and install copper and iron pipe by threading, solder, or Pro-Press. Insulate and mastic pipes. Install ductwork. Clean, paint, and/or install vents. Clean ductwork. Install low voltage controls – i.e., thermostats.

Assist EPA Certified Technicians with the repair, installation and maintenance of A/C and refrigeration systems – e.g., heat pumps, DX systems, mini-splits, window units, stand- alone refrigerators and freezers, walk-in refrigerators and freezers and chillers.

Maintain and repair water, steam generating, and condensing boilers. Work with the chemical company representatives to maintain proper boiler water to chemical composition. Work with boiler inspector to ensure that boilers are operated in a safe manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and standards.

Performs other related duties as requested by supervisor.

 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Knowledge and ability to use power tools.

Ability to perform physical work such as lifting and moving furniture and building materials.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Knowledge and ability to read blueprints and schematics.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

A valid Florida Driver’s License. If initially hired with an out-of-state license the Florida resident must obtain a valid Florida State driver’s license within 30-days of hire. License suspended or revoked for any reason, work permits (Business purpose/ Employment/Education only license) and some types of restricted license are not acceptable. License that has “Corrective Lenses Restricted,” are acceptable, provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.

 

This position may be required to perform essential services before, during, and after an emergency per APD OP 2-0035.

 

This position is critical to the safety and supervision of residents and may require the incumbent to work beyond their normal work schedule to maintain minimum coverage levels in the facility.
