COMMUNITY DENTAL SERVICES COORDINATOR – OPS

APD TACACHALE  

GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA

 

This position will assist in Community Dental office practices regarding gaining prior authorizations, health history and making appointments for Community Dental patients. The incumbent will:

Contact the Support Coordinator to obtain prior authorizations for services. The Support Coordinator is an APD area office staff person that works on behalf of the patient.

Interviews and counsels’ patients to determine financial status.

Explain insurance and office policies, including collections to patients.

Once prior authorization is obtained, schedule services.

Work with the Dental Staff to ensure appointments are scheduled at a proper pace for Dental Clinic flow.

Meet with Dental Staff weekly to ensure that all services provided are properly coded and submitted for billing.

Prepare monthly and year to date reports and submit to the Accounting Services Supervisor.

Maintain individual patient’s files for all claims.

Ensure that records of clients treated are complete and hard copies maintained for a period of six (6) years.

Submit monthly reports including patient’s name, all items billed, dates of service, amount billed, and payments received.

Provide a copy of appointments scheduled and services provided to the Accounting Services Supervisor monthly.

Coordinate scheduling appointments at Shand’s Hospital for general anesthesia with hospital, physicians, caregivers, hospital financial consultants and legal representative of patient.

Coordinator referrals to outside specialist (i.e., dental specialty services at University of Florida).

Obtain and verify thoroughness of medical information prior to scheduling patients.

Manage and organize cases to/from dental laboratories.

Coordinate all above services with Dental Secretary, University of Florida representative.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of dental procedures.

Maintains current knowledge of dental techniques and procedures.

Knowledge of office procedures and practices and software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

Ability to learn to order using state ordering system. MyFloridaMarketPlace.

 Ability to communicate, establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

 

WORK SCHEDULE

This position is located at a 24- hour facility. Working hours are Monday thru Friday, from 8:00 a.m., to 5:00 p.m. Total hours in workweek 40. (Change in days off may be required.)
