MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. 

Experience in news reporting, editing, public relations, public information, advertising, marketing, mass communications or journalism can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. 

Possession of a valid Driver License.

JOB DUTIES: 

GENERAL STATEMENT:  This position serves as a Helpline Spanish operator for the Division of Plant Industry.

Promptly and professionally answers calls coming into the Division of Plant Industry Helpline. When necessary, refer calls to the appropriate person, office or agency (provides customer with the appropriate name, agency and/or number whenever possible). Records all incoming calls.

Serve as the Divisional Spanish translator.

Provides clerical support as needed to supervisor and other division bureaus and offices. Duties include data entry, internet research, document production, spreadsheet creation, and website review.

Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Ability to fluently speak and write Spanish.
  • Ability to interact with the public in a courteous and professional manner.
