LABORER TECHNICIAN

APD TACACHALE MAINTENANCE

GAINESVILLE FLORIDA

The incumbent assigned to this position is responsible for, but not limited to the following work which may require bending, squatting or standing for extended periods and may be required to lift up to 100 pounds.

 

Prepare inside/outside of buildings to be painted, which include prepping and priming of structures and equipment. Responsible for gathering of materials for each named job such as paint, ladders, drop cloths and other painting tools.

 

Perform all types of carpentry, such as framing, roofing, cabinetry, repairs, finish work, trim work and masonry. Responsible for gathering of materials needed for each named job such as skill saws, drills and other carpentry tools. Responsible for the repair and/or hanging of doors. Proper use of hand tools, including but not limited to: electric saws, skill saws and trim knives.

Build forms and assist in pouring concrete. Repair roof with tar and/or shingles. Install door closures, kick plates and other hardware. Responsible for the operation of state vehicles and equipment.

 

Ordering materials and prepare estimates.

 

Perform other related duties as required or requested by supervisor.

 

Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:

Must be knowledgeable of and able to use power tools.

Must be able to perform physical work such as lifting and moving furniture and building materials.

Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT(S):

You must have a valid Florida Driver’s License to apply for this position. (If initially hired with an out-of-state license the Florida resident must obtain a valid Florida State driver’s license within 30-days of hire. License suspended or revoked for any reason, work permits (Business purpose/Employment/Education only license) and some types of restricted license are not acceptable. License that have “Corrective Lenses Restricted,” are acceptable, provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

At least two (2) years roofing experience with shingles.

 

WORK SCHEDULE

This position is located at a 24- hour facility.  Working hours are Monday thru Friday. Shift starts at 8:00 a.m., and ends at 4:30 p.m. Off days are Saturday and Sunday.
