This advertisement is for a OPS position located at Gadsden Re-entry Center.

 

Salary: $11.35 per hour

 

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

 

Under the direction of Secretary, Mark Inch, the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is the 3rd largest state prison system in the country with a budget of 2.4 billion, approximately 96,000 inmates incarcerated and another 166,000 offenders on active community supervision. The DOC has 151 facilities and more than 24,000 staff members statewide, making it the State’s largest agency.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:

 

  • Responsible for oversight of daily meal preparation including production and meal service to the inmate population.
  • Supervise the inmate food service worker in food preparation, kitchen sanitation, etc.
  • Ensure preparation of meals is in accordance with the department’s master menu and master menu recipes.
  • Must be able to interpret and comply with OSHA and related health and food service standards.
  • Handles raw and cooked food in accordance with sanitation standards.
  • Upon completion of training, ability to complete work assignments without direct supervision.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA’S):
 

  • Knowledge of sanitation standards.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work in a high paced kitchen environment.
  • Ability to produce quality meals to be served on time to inmates.
  • Ability to speak clearly and correctly to individuals and groups.
  • Ability to listen effectively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
