Distributed Computer Systems Analyst - 70033697

This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Columbia Correctional Institution for the Office of Information Technology located in Lake City, Florida.

Salary Rate:  $41,000.18 Annually

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position will be responsible for providing support for computer systems at multiple sites, including major institutions, probation & parole offices, community facilities, region offices, and other Department or related sites:  field staff responsibilities below apply to most computer equipment (including personal computers, midrange minicomputers, and the large mainframe computer), telecommunications and related software.
  • Responsible for planning, designing, implementing and troubleshooting the local area networks and client/server architecture including connecting personal computers to the local area network, installing both client and server software products.  Maintaining documentation related to the local area network and personal computers connected to the environment, and troubleshooting problems.
  • Responsible for installation and support of a statewide, wide area, or distributed systems network of computer equipment (hardware/software), including site surveys and installation planning, initiating request to add, delete or move data circuits, coordination with electrical and cabling contractors, processing of Information Resource Request (IRR’s) equipment orders, cabling and installation of equipment, and post-installation support and troubleshooting.
  • Responsible for installation and support of network computers, including setup and loading of software; and performing the technical role of system manager including functions of backup, recovery, troubleshooting.
  • Assists with providing general Data Processing (DP)/Help Desk support for all data processing in the Service Center.
  • Coordinates with other DP areas of Corrections and other Agencies to solve any DP issues.
  • Provide support for computer systems at department sites, to included mobile devices, desktop workstations, and file and print servers.
  • Support local area network and troubleshoot network issues.
  • Support VOIP Phone system.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Ability to understand and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of problem solving techniques, coordinate work assignments.
  • Knowledge of distributed processing operations, procedures, and equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience supporting Windows Server 2012 or Windows Server 2008 and desktop computers running Windows 10.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Backup Exec and TrendMicro Anti-virus software.
  • Knowledge of recent thin-client technologies and VOIP’s are helpful.
  • Knowledge of computers and software.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of computer programming and/or computer systems analysis.
  • Ability to write, code, test and debug computer programs.
  • Ability to process information logically and solve problems.
  • Ability to develop training programs related to distributed processing operations and procedures.
  • Ability to monitor and resolve problems with distributed computer systems components.
  • Ability to identify and define user task needs.
  • Strong organizational skills are necessary.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Must meet 5 of 9 to advance to interview.

  • Three years’ experience with supporting PC’s in a Windows environment.
  • Two years’ experience in the administration of a Windows 2K/2K3 network.
  • Experience in the maintenance or repair of peripherals (printers).
  • One-year experience in computer skills teaching or three years professional teaching background.
  • A+ Certification.
  • One or more major Microsoft Certifications.
  • One-year experience in a customer service/help desk environment.
  • Experience in support of Windows or other Local Area Networks.
  • Two or more years programming/systems analysis experience.
  • Eligible for Veteran’s Preference claim.
