Starting Annual Salary: $40,948.18 - $43,995.64, based on level of experience.

  • Applicant must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be willing and able to travel throughout the state of Florida, as needed by the Department.
  • Successful completion of a Level 2 Background Screening, Drug Test and due diligence process.


Preference will be given to applicants with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Three (3) years of documented experience in construction oversight.
  • Two (2) years of experience developing statements of work for construction projects.
  • Five (5) years of experience developing and reviewing preventative maintenance plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Three (3) years employment experience working in a nursing home or long-term care.  
  • Employment experience communicating with government entities, verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook.


Develops, plans and implements the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) processes and systems to assure positive outcome in the State Veterans’ Homes.  Oversees the CIP of State Veterans’ Homes, maintains professional standards of care and ensures compliance with State, Federal and VA regulatory guidelines. 

Coordinates and facilitates the preventative maintenance program for State Veterans’ Nursing Homes (SVNHs).    

Coordinates the Capital Improvement Plan for the State Veterans’ Nursing Homes.    

Coordinates and facilitates the Safety Program for the State Veterans’ Nursing Homes.    

Consults and advises regarding maintenance of physical plants and equipment, Life Safety Codes, Building codes and Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Construction Standards.    

Coordinates and facilitates the Energy and Conservation Program for the State Veterans’ Nursing Homes.

Consult and advise on the Operating Capital Outlay expenditures of the State Veterans Homes.

Performs other duties as assigned.    


Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:

Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance. 

Knowledge of materials, methods and tolls involved in the construction or repair of buildings. 

Ability to perform routine maintenance or repairs on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed and which tools to use. 

Ability to speak, read, write and follow instructions and communicate effectively. 

Ability to work effectively with others. 

Ability to perform tasks related to computer use.
