This is a position created under the Dietitian Supervisor as a Dietitian. The primary function of this position is to work planning, developing, and implementation of nutritional care program for residents at Sunland.  Duties encompass Unit 2, Pathways and other areas on as needed basis. 



  • Registered as a Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) State of Florida.
  • Or: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in dietetics or food and nutrition and eligible for registration exam. 




  • Prepares paperwork in a timely manner and attends special active treatment meetings when scheduling permits.  Paperwork includes quarterly active treatment, consults requested by provider, health and behavior or house staff.  Implements special patterns and guidelines as needed for resident and food service.  Monitors mealtime situations for compliance to care plan.  Monitor weights monthly, changes in appetite and intake, changes in medications, health status and metabolic parameters on each assigned resident.  Identifies high-risk nutritional residents and provides necessary follow-up for acute and chronic changes.


  • Preparation and implementation of an Individual Progress Plan (IPP) for each assigned individual conforming to all standards of federal, state regulations and established policies for Sunland.  Includes but not limited to yearly or more frequent nutritional assessments, discharge/admission planning, resident transfers, diet change notification to dietary, other interested parties and in-services to meet goals of each program.


  • Communicates in a timely manner to health professionals and consults. Meets with residents/staff on a regular basis to discuss dietary issues or education needs.


  • Provides technical support for food service, house, ancillary and medical services in areas of nutrition, diet education and sanitation.


  • Assists in updating food service/nutritional care policies and procedures.  Assists in special projects as assigned.


  • Responsible for maintaining personal education hours to retain licensure and registration with average of 15 hours per year.


  • Performs other related duties as required.



  • Knowledge of the concepts and theories of dietetics or food and nutrition.
  • Knowledge of nutrition as it relates to growth, development and disease.
  • Knowledge of nutritional assessment techniques.
  • Ability to provide nutrition education to others.
  • Ability to plan menus.
  • Ability to prepare food specifications.
  • Ability to calculate food costs.
  • Ability to analyze food production methods for efficiency and sanitary practices.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain records.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
