THIS IS A SELECTED EXEMPT SERVICE POSITION.

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities works in partnership with local communities to support people with developmental disabilities in living, learning, and working in their communities. APD provides critical services and supports for customers with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential. The Agency serves people with spina bifida, autism, Down syndrome, children age 3-5 at high risk of developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, Prader-Willi syndrome, Phelan-McDermid syndrome, and intellectual disabilities. There is no charge or co-payment for services provided through the Agency.

DIRECT DEPOSIT PROGRAM - As a condition of employment, a person appointed to a position in State government is required to participate in the Direct Deposit Program.  Rather than receiving a paper paycheck, your funds will be deposited directly into your account at your financial institution. This will be accomplished by Electronic Funds Transfer. Banks, savings and loan associations, and credit unions are eligible to accept such deposits. Retirement funds are also required to be in the Direct Deposit Program.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT:

It is the policy of the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities that applicants for employment undergo Level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.
No applicant for a designated position will be employed or permitted to volunteer until the Level 2 screening results are received, reviewed, and approved by the Agency.

REQUIREMENTS:

The Facility operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, applicant must be willing and able to be available during that type of on call schedule

PREFERENCE(S):

Prefers applicant hold a Bachelor's degree in Social Science, Health Services, or related fields

Prefers an applicant to have experience in implementing Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) Standards

***DUTIES:

Employees of the Agency for Persons with Disabilities are required to demonstrate total commitment to outstanding customer service. This includes, but is not limited to, always acting in a responsive, professional, courteous manner with the employees, customers and public we serve at all times.

The incumbent assigned to this position acts as the Center Administrator, responsible for providing leadership and direction for all administrative and facility operations at Sunland Marianna consistent with applicable Florida Statutes, federal law and regulations, and agency policies and procedures. Scope of work and major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensures the health, welfare, safety and well-being of facility residents and the safety of staff engaged in providing for the supervision and care of residents.
  • Works in partnership with facility’s senior leadership team and various state and federal agencies to ensure that facilities are well maintained and achieve and maintain appropriate licensure and certification standards. Ensures that corrective action plans are developed and deployed to address issues identified in site visits by state and federal officials.
  • Works in partnership with facility’s senior leadership team on the development and implementation of facility programs designed to meet the mission of the facility and the needs of its residents, consistent with the policies, goals and objectives of the agency.
  • Directs and monitors the allocation of resources within the facility and makes periodic adjustments as necessary due to changing budgetary or operational conditions. Ensures that facility expenditures remain within authorized budgets.
  • Reviews and analyzes periodic reports and key indicators of administrative, programmatic and managerial performance. Ensures that all necessary corrective actions including changes in facility protocol and operating procedures are accomplished in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that a system is in place for the management of human resources and effective relationships between facility staff and management to facilitate performance, productivity and early problem identification and resolution.
  • Represents the facility's needs and achievements to the agency and public in a way that promotes the financial, programmatic and public support of the agency and facility. Promotes positive community relations that facilitate community involvement and support.
  • Ensures effective intra and interagency relationships are in place to promote continuity of resident care, effective relationships with Department of Children and Families programs as well as other community agencies involved in the provision of services to the facility residents.
  • Ensures a quality management/improvement system is in place to support achievement of goals and objectives of the facility.
  • Ensures the management of contracts complies with agency standards.
  • Works with advocacy groups, internal resident advisory panels, and guardians to ensure that the needs of residents are addressed in a timely and professional manner.
  • Performs other related duties as directed or assigned to accomplish the mission of the agency.
