SPECIAL NOTES:
A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university is required.    

Preference will be given to applicants with a Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, finance, business administration, economics, insurance or risk management AND Two (2) or more years of recent professional experience in complex accounting, examining, analyzing, investigating or auditing financial data within the banking, insurance, mortgage or securities industry compliance.

A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in finance, economics, accounting or business administration or a Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.) certificate can substitute for one (1) year of the preferred experience.

The base annual salary for this position is $43,507.36 plus $1,268.75 CAD.

This job requires frequent/overnight work-related travel. 

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment. 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL

  • Knowledge of the methods of organizing, compiling, analyzing and presenting data.

    BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
    This is a lead examiner position and will direct other assigned examiners in the accurate completion of assigned examinations.

    (*) Incumbent has the ability to be assigned task of medium complexity which can be completed with minimal direction from the supervisor.  Performs preliminary inquiries and complex regulatory examinations of securities broker/dealers, agents, issuers, issuer/dealers, investment advisers and unregistered entities to determine compliance with Chapter 517, Florida Statutes, the Florida Securities and Investor Protection Act, and the rules promulgated thereunder.  Prepares written reports detailing the results of these examinations. 

    (*) Researches, analyzes and investigates consumer complaints and inquiries by telephone, written communication and on-site visitation when necessary.

    Handles assigned special projects designed to ensure compliance with the Florida Securities and Investor Protection Act and associated rules.

    (*) Answers correspondence and telephone requests with respect to broker/dealers, investment advisers and agents.

    Performs other related work as required.
