This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at South Florida Reception Center in the Warehouse.

 

Our mission in the Our mission in the Warehouse is to efficiently manage the storage and distribution of supplies, as well as handle all incoming and outgoing mail for the correctional facilities. We aim to ensure that all operations run smoothly, supporting the overall functioning of the institution, and meeting the needs of both staff and inmates.

 

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

 

Salary: $33,760.22 Annually

 

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Provide clerical and operational support for daily tasks like mailroom, inmate discharge, cash receipts, and laundry operations.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail, prepare routine replies, and assist vendors and staff with questions or problems.
  • Support institutional operations by managing court documents and serving as backup for other staff duties.
  • Maintain professional relationships by assisting with data intake, correspondence, data entries, and file management while ensuring positive communication.
  • Ensure supplies and equipment are ordered, monitored, and documented properly, and maintain inventory of office supplies. Complete My Florida Marketplace (MFMP) processing if needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

Please note, when submitting a college/university degree, if selected for this position official transcripts will be required.

  • Must possess at least two years of secretarial or clerical work experience.
    • Possession of a Certified Professional Secretary Certificate.
    • College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for each year of the required work experience.
    • Vocational technical training in an area of secretarial science or office/business studies can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for each year of the required work experience.
    • A high school diploma or its equivalent can substitute for one year of the required work experience.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

 

The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.

 

The Level 2 background check includes fingerprinting for state and federal criminal records and may also include local criminal records checks.

 

According to Florida law (S. 110.1127(1)), this position requires a background investigation, including fingerprinting.
