Title: Public Health Nutritionist Supervisor

Location: Naples


Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position serves as the Naples Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program site supervisor in addition to providing direct client service for WIC program participants. WIC program services are provided in a manner consistent with State and Federal regulation DHM 150-24. This employee is required to have an annual assessment for Tuberculosis (TB) which many include a tuberculin skin test (TST). This employee is at risk for exposure to blood-borne pathogens. This employee will be immunized in accordance with State Health Program Office Immunization Recommendations for Health Care Workers or employee provides proof of immunity for recommended immunizations.

  • Provides nutrition education and counseling per Value Enhanced Nutrition Assessment requirements that is appropriate and pertinent to clients assessed nutrition problems. Medical nutrition therapy provided is consistent with current dietary practice.
  • Assesses all nutrition problems presented by each client, assigns correct WIC nutrition risk criteria.
  • This position is responsible for the supervision of staff including appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave and having the authority for hiring and taking disciplinary action or effectively recommending such actions.
  • Documents assessment counseling provided client established goals and food package assigned in FL-WiSE data system. Prepares individualized outcome-oriented nutrition plan of care for all clients determined as high risk or receiving medical nutrition therapy.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Nutrition Counseling Skills:  experience counseling individuals and groups on Infant, Child, and Maternal Nutrition.
  • Ability to organize assignments and duties.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to motivate staff.
  • Ability to follow and enforce applicable Federal, State, and Local Regulations and Policies.
  • Ability to monitor/assess quality standards.
  • Competent keyboard skills required.
  • Ability to learn FL-WiSE computer system, Department of Health software applications and use calculator.
  • Ability to provide own transportation to assigned work sites and have a valid Florida driver's license.
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality and interact professionally with the public.





  • Valid Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist in state of Florida.
  • American Heart Association cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification (CPR) required after hire.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
  • EMERGENCY DUTY- Incumbent may be required to work during or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in Special Needs or Red Cross Shelters, or to perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.


  • Bilingual skills beneficial - Spanish/English or Haitian Creole/English.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an U.S. accredited university or college in nutritional science, community nutrition, dietetics, or publich health nutrition.
