POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Mission Statement: To help Florida’s elders remain healthy, safe, and independent.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists the District Ombudsman Manager with updating the ombudsman complaint investigations and administrative assessments within the web-based documentation system

 

Assists the District Ombudsman Manager with updating long-term care facility contact information within the web-based documentation system

 

Assists the District Ombudsman Manager to prepare and arrange the monthly ombudsman council meeting

 

Assists the District Ombudsman Manager in maintaining and updating volunteer membership files

 

Checks office inventory of supplies, forms, brochures, and promotional items and replenish as needed

 

Performs general office filing

 

Processes incoming mail and faxes

 

Assists in reviewing volunteer travel as needed

 

Manages the office in the absence of the District Ombudsman Manager

 

Answers the phone and maintain phone log for all incoming calls

 

Checks and respond to voice mail

 

Performs other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

 

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing as appropriate to the position

 

Ability to type 45 CWPM

 

Possesses good organizational skills

 

Knowledge of relevant software used by the program

 

 

SPECIAL NOTE:

If selected for employment applicant will be required to become a certified Ombudsman upon time frame set by employer.

 

Preference will be given to the Department of Elder Affairs employees.

BACKGROUND CHECKS:

A Successful completion of a Level 2 Criminal History Background Check is required for all applicants selected for this position.
