Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) is hosting an INTERVIEW ON THE SPOT opportunity!
We are a federal-state vocational program dedicated to helping people with physical or mental disabilities be successful in employment. We are looking for you to be our recommended candidate in the running for 1 of 5 Senior VR Counselor positions across the following cities: Orlando, Sanford, and Leesburg.

Minimum Requirements
Professional Experience
Work with individuals with disabilities, advocacy, or employment-related roles.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in the following fields: Counseling, Business, Psychology, Healthcare, Education, Public Safety, or Criminology and 2 years of professional experience.
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in fields listed above and 1 year of professional experience.

What to expect for the interview?
- Check-in with the receptionist for your interview.
- Meet Unit Supervisors, Area Supervisors and our very own Area Director, Wayne Olson!
- Spend time with the interview panel for approx. 30 minutes.
- Relax in the reception area and you will be notified within 25min if you are a recommended candidate in the running.
- Be prepared, if you are recommended, to meet our HR Personnel Liaison onsite with the following:
- Contact information for at least 2 references from previous employers listed on your application.
- Driver’s License.
- Social Security Card.
- Copy of Degree or unofficial transcripts.
This is important - although you may be identified as our recommended candidate in the running, a final decision will be decided within 6 – 8 weeks. If you are not chosen as the recommended candidate in the running, your interview score will remain on file for up to 6 months for consideration.
Job Description
As a Senior Counselor, you will provide professional vocational rehabilitation counseling to individuals with disabilities to help them achieve their employment goals. You will assess medical, psychological, and vocational information to determine service eligibility and develop individualized employment plans. Your role involves coordinating and negotiating services, vendor payments, conducting job placement activities, and building relationships with employers and community partners.
You'll manage client information and case records, provide technical assistance to internal and external customers, ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, and actively maintain fiscal compliance. Effective communication, data analysis, and career counseling skills are essential. You must balance multiple priorities, work productively under tight deadlines, and maintain a goal-directed approach. In-person attendance is essential for this position.
