OPS Library Technical Assistant – 70920216

 

This advertisement is for an OPS position located at Taylor Correctional Institution in the Library Department.

 

Salary Rate: $12.05 per Hour

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • A valid driver’s license.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Processes inmate request pertaining to general and law library services.
  • Opens the library a minimum of 25 hours per week.
  • Assigns research duties to inmate clerks.
  • Answers requests and grievances within mandatory time limits.
  • Reviews research aides’ responses to requests.
  • Monitors check out and return of library materials.
  • Monitors interlibrary loan processing.
  • Monitors the use of copy machine.
  • Forwards law library invoices.
  • Forwards change forms.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies.
  • Supervise inmates assigned to the Library as Law Clerks, Law Clerk Trainees, Orderlies, and Clerks.
  • Manage the resources of the library in accordance with the rules and statues in place.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of classification procedures, cataloging and authority files for library materials.
  • Ability to maintain book collections and assist users in locating and using material.
  • Ability to conduct routine bibliographic searches for print and non-print materials.
  • Ability to maintain assigned card catalog or database collections.
  • Ability to maintain records.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
  • Ability to perform basic circulation functions according to established procedures.
