Salary Rate: $10.35 Per Hour

This advertisement is for an OPS position located at Taylor Correctional Institution in the Food Service Department. This is not a classroom position, but the main duty is to oversee daily meal preparation including production and meal service to the inmate population.

 

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.  EMPLOYEES ARE NORMALLY HIRED AT THE MINIMUM OF THE SALARY RANGE.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent
  • PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED: One year of experience in food service or 6 months experience in correctional food service preparation can substitute for the required one year experience.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Oversight of daily meal preparation, production, and service.
  • Instructs the inmate food service worker in food preparation, kitchen sanitation, etc.
  • Ensure meals are prepared in accordance with master menu manual and the master recipes.
  • Spends a minimum of 75% of his/her time performing duties which involve contact with inmates in a correctional institution.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (KSA’s):

 

  • Knowledge of food service operations.
  • Knowledge of sanitation standards.
  • Ability to complete work assignments without constant direct supervision.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to listen effectively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
