Vocational Food Service Coordinator – 70910119

This advertisement is for multiple OPS positions located at Taylor Correctional Institution in the Food Service Department.

Salary Rate: $11.35 Per Hour

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Handle raw and cooked food in accordance with sanitation standards.
  • Maintain professional food service management certification.
  • Oversee meals prepared in accordance with the departments master menu manual and recipes.
  • Responsible for the oversight of daily meal preparation including production and meal service to the inmate population.  This includes interpreting and complying with OSHA and related health and food service standards. 
  • Spends a minimum of 75% of his/her time performing duties which involve contact with inmates in a correctional institution.
  • Supervises inmates in the daily functions of the kitchen setting in accordance with DOC and Department of Health standards.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to listen effectively.
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work in a training capacity with people in individual and group settings.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of food service operations.
  • Knowledge of sanitation standards.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent
