Vocational Food Service Coordinator – 70920696

 

Salary Rate: $11.35 Per Hour

 

This advertisement is for an OPS position located at Lawtey Correctional Institution in the Food Service Department.

 

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

 

Under the direction of Secretary, Mark Inch, the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is the 3rd largest state prison system in the country with a budget of 2.4 billion, approximately 96,000 inmates incarcerated and another 166,000 offenders on active community supervision. The DC has 151 facilities and more than 24,000 staff members statewide, making it the State’s largest agency.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Supervise inmates in the daily functions of the kitchen setting in accordance with DOC and Department of Health Standards.
  • Must be able to interpret and comply with OSHA and related health and food service standards.
  • Supervise the inmate food service workers in food production, preparation, kitchen sanitation, etc.
  • Oversee meals prepared in accordance with the departments master menu manual and recipes.
  • Act as the food service weekend manager on duty as necessary.
  • Maintain ServSafe certification.
  • Upon completion of training, complete work assignments without direct supervision, perform other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (KSA’s):

  •  Knowledge of principles and techniques of effective communication.
  • Knowledge of a vocational skill such as food service operations.
  • Ability to work in a training capacity with people in individual and group settings.
  • Ability to collect, records and evaluate data relating to the training of individuals.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain records and other instructional materials.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others,
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to vocation instructions.
  • Ability to multi-task.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent


PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:

  • One year of experience in food service or 6 months experience in correctional food service preparation can substitute for the required one year experience.
