The Employment Security Representative (ESR I) is a member of the Department of Economic Opportunity team within CareerSource Heartland offices and will facilitate an overall office marketing/outreach plan, distributing information about services available in the career center.

 

THIS POSITION HAS THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM JOB-RELATED REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to communicate effectively in all media, individual and group presentation settings.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to deal with the public and the employment community tactfully, courteously and effectively.
  • Ability to promote and market Career Center
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments


THE HIRED CANDIDATE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING

  • Market One Stop Career Center functions and programs throughout the local community through visits to employers, community organizations and public and private agencies in order to obtain job orders.  Disseminate information about the services available in the One Stop Career Center.
  • Conduct group orientation and job clubs informing customers about labor market information, job qualifications, employer demands (job criteria) and training opportunities available through community resources and refer as appropriate.  Assist in eliminating barriers to participation in the world of work by instructing customers in interviewing techniques, job finding skills, resume and employment application preparation and other skills relating to securing employment.
  • Administer and score assessment (testing) for customers and train local Test Release Agreement Agencies.
  • Refer customers to community resources for appropriate employment related services and perform placement services as required.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS THAT MAY BE REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION

  • Must become certified as a Workforce Development Professional (Tier 1), within 12 months of appointment to this position.
  •  Required to travel locally and must provide own transportation.
