The annual salary for this position is $32,697.12.

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures. 
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain a variety of accounting records. 
  • Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data. 
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to an accounting program. 
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: 

This position coordinates with others on general audit duties related to the processing of all payrolls This involves working closely with bureau and agency personnel and employing advanced accounting procedures, audit concepts, and audit controls.

Responsible for processing leave deferrals for retired employees and DROP participants and processing beneficiary packets submitted to the BOSP.  Assist with the preparation of annual information return Form 1099 MISC.

Responsible for handling negative balance’s after each payroll and authorizing the release of payrolls only after account discrepancies are satisfied. Notifies agencies of account discrepancies.  Processes Journal Transfers (JT) to facilitate the release of payrolls.  Ensure such payments follow the applicable Florida Statutes, the Florida Administrative Code and the Payroll Preparation Manual.
