Job Description

This position involves professional and technical work and is responsible for the administration, monitoring, planning, design, development, operation, maintenance, security, and integrity of the database environments.  This position is responsible for coordinating work and supervising staff.  This position works independently, with minimal supervision by the Applications and Database Manager.

Education and Training Guidelines

Additional relevant experience may substitute for the recommended educational level on a year-for-year basis and additional relevant education may substitute for the recommended experience on a year-for-year basis.  


Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, management information systems or a closely related field and six years of related experience, including database architectural and operations management.

Special Comments

Knowledge of SQL Server database administration, SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Reporting Services, T-SQL, Oracle 12c database administration, PL/SQL and Oracle Enterprise Manager.


Knowledge of SQL Server and Oracle database performance monitoring tools and tuning concepts.


Knowledge of database structures and theories.


Knowledge of current database technologies.


Knowledge of data analysis and administration techniques.


Knowledge of networking and security concepts.


Ability to conduct short-range and long-range database-related project planning studies.


Knowledge of computer operations, systems and procedures.


Knowledge of data processing flow charting techniques.

Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
