Your Employment Benefits are a significant part of your state compensation. The total compensation package includes annual salary, insurance, retirement, paid leave and holidays, and could total anywhere from $95,235 to $107,187 annually, based on your benefit options and choices.

 

The Organization

The vision of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (department) is “A Safer Florida”. The services provided by the department touch the lives of nearly every Floridian as well as the millions of visitors who come to our state every year. The department manages a large amount of data such as crash, citation, driver license, motor vehicle and operational data from the Florida Highway Patrol. This data is analyzed by the department to improve public safety, service delivery and the experience of our members. The department has approximately 4,500 members statewide comprised of the Florida Highway Patrol, Division of Motorist Services, Administrative Services, Information Systems Administration and Office of the Executive Director.

 

 What will I be doing?

This is a challenging leadership position within the Office of Performance Management. The position will supervise employees, lead department data analytics projects such as dashboard development, dashboard designs, and author and present external reports. The position will provide recommendations to executive and senior leadership on data management strategy, business analytics and data visualizations. This position is responsible for growing the department’s data analytics program. As a member of the Office of the Executive Director, the incumbent will work closely in collaboration with department data analytics teams in the Florida Highway Patrol, Motorist Services, Information Systems Administration and Administrative Services. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a strong foundation in Tableau software, data structures, data analysis, dashboard design principles, SQL, and the ability to summarize and present on complex topics. The candidate must also have strong organizational skills and be able to effectively prioritize and complete urgent projects and requests.

 

Special Note

  • The position you are applying is subject to a Level 2 background and CJIS security clearance, to include fingerprinting as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes.  As an applicant for positions requiring CJIS security clearance, you are required to disclose criminal records that have been sealed or expunged. 

 

  • This position requires an in-office presence Monday through Friday in the department’s Tallahassee, Florida headquarters.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the theory, process, and value of data visualizations.
  • Skill in relational databases using Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Skill in data analysis, research methods, theory, and statistical tests.
  • Skill in authoring and presenting professional analysis reports to high-level leadership within the department and to external partners.
  • Skill in the participation, execution, and development of data quality and process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to work with and display sensitivity toward diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality, security and privacy of data.

General Information

The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
