The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) provides highway safety and security through excellence in service, education and enforcement. What will I be doing?

As a Construction Project Consultant I you will be responsible for assisting in preparation and administration of budgets for Fixed Capital Outlay Programs and statewide construction and renovation project for all divisions of the Department.

 

Do I qualify?

  • Do you have experience using Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel and Outlook?
  • Do you have 3 years’ experience of planning, design, and completion of Construction projects and/or the equivalent degree in a related field?
  • Do you have experience with state building codes including the Florida Building Code?

 

The selected candidate must:

  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing.  A driver's license history review will be conducted on all candidates in consideration for the position.
  • Pass a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) criminal history background check.

     

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of principles, techniques, materials, and equipment used in building construction and design.
  • Administrative principles and techniques.
  • State minimum building codes including Florida Building Code and Florida Fire Prevention Code.
  • Knowledge of engineering design, construction, production and/or operations.
  • Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Coordinate architects, contractors, and sub-contractors
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate building construction program activities.
  • Design and implement construction contracts.
  • Analyze and interpret construction data.
  • Monitor and inspect building projects.
  • Communicate information effectively – verbally and in writing.
  • Solve problems relating to construction.
  • Determine priorities, assign work, and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Inspect construction projects for compliance with specifications and/or building codes.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

DHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
