Crime Intelligence Analyst I – 70026660

 

This advertisement is for a Career Service position located in the Office of the Inspector General/Head Quarters (Tallahassee, FL).

The Bureau of State Investigations/Law Enforcement conducts and coordinates complex investigations designed to detect, deter, prevent, and eradicate fraud, waste, mismanagement, misconduct, and other abuses in state government. The

investigative authority is pursuant to FSS 944.31, Inspector general; inspectors; power and duties; FSS 20.055, Agency inspectors general and FSS 943, Department of Law Enforcement.

This position will be located in the following county:

  • Leon County
     

Salary: $33,760.00

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.
 
The incumbent in this position compiles, analyzes, and disseminates information and intelligence from various agencies, the public, and other sources.  Additionally, the incumbent will request, receive, analyze, and document information of a criminal nature. The incumbent in this position is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60L-36, Florida Administrative Code. Additionally, the incumbent will be expected to become familiar with the Inspector General’s directives; display leadership skills that demonstrate the IG’s commitment to the mission of detecting and deterring waste, fraud, abuse, and misconduct in Departmental programs and personnel, and to promote economy and efficiency in those programs. The incumbent in this position is expected to become familiar in the department’s reentry initiatives; display leadership skills that demonstrate the department’s commitment to reentry efforts for offenders while maintaining a professional demeanor.

 

  • Compiles, analyzes, and disseminates information and intelligence from various agencies, the public, and other sources, correctional facilities, correctional institutions, work camps, community corrections and promotes these sources to maintain the exchange of pertinent information among Department of Corrections Bureaus, Offices of Florida Inspector Generals, and law enforcement agencies.
  • Requests, receives, analyzes, and documents information of a confidential nature. Incumbent will process, analyze, and develop confidential criminal and intelligence information pursuant law, rule, involving those covered Correctional officers and correctional probation officers, by labor contracts for the Inspector General’s State Investigations field offices.  Please note COs and CPOs are covered under FS 112.  
  • Coordinates inter-state and intra-state information and intelligence pertaining to criminal activity and criminal movement which occurs upon Department of Corrections property, involves inmates, gang activities, and exercises independent judgment to ensure that accurate and reliable information is disseminated to proper authority.
  • Develops strategic and tactical intelligence.  Displays knowledge, skills, and ability to perform job, such as conducting interviews.  Monitors arrests, prosecutions, and forfeitures.
  • Utilizes electronic, technical, and support systems equipment.
  • Maintains liaison and intelligence exchange with other law enforcement agencies.
  • Prepares and completes written reports which are grammatically correct.  Completes all administrative documentation and issues reports timely.  Ensures reports compiled are logically comprehensive and grammatically correct.  Functions well as a team member.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to coordinate the dissemination of information.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
  • Incumbent must have an understanding of public records exemptions for processing confidential information pursuant Section 119.071, F.S.
  • Ensure all state issued equipment is utilized and maintained in a safe and ready manner consistent with OIG Directives, DC Procedures, and Florida Administrative Code.
  • Apply a working knowledge of current Florida Statutes, Florida Administrative Code.
  • Conduct investigative research.
  • Have a functional working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel software programs.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and writing skills.
  • Speak and writing in the English language fluently.        
  • Respond to internal department and external agency requests efficiently and effectively.
  • Demonstrate organizational and planning skills.
  • Have ability to compile statistical and performance measures as directed.
  • The incumbent shall not have been indicted, convicted, or adjudication withheld of any felony criminal offense.
  • Associate with any person that is a participant or member of any gang that engages in criminal behavior as identified by the Office of Inspector General.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with confidential documents and information without discrepancy.
  • The incumbent is expected to maintain strict confidentiality in the performance of duties dealing with criminal information and intelligence.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Please note, when submitting a college/university degree, if selected for this position official transcripts will be required.

  • At least two (2) years of experience where your primary function was intelligence, investigations, or analysis and a High School Diploma or equivalency; OR
  • At least one (1) year of experience where your primary function was intelligence or analysis AND an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice or a related discipline.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
