To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum requirement(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  (1) A bachelor's degree from a college or university and five years of experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming, three years of which must have been in data base design; or  (2)  A master's degree from a college or university in management information systems or in one of the computer sciences and four years of experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming, three years of which must have been in data base design; or (3)  A doctorate from college or university in management information systems or in one of the computer sciences and three years of experience in data base design; or (4)  Seven years of experience in computer systems and analysis and/or computer programming, three years of which must have been in data base design and either (a) completion of a 720 classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or community college in an area of data processing (excluding data entry), or (b) 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college course work from an institution which includes four courses in computer science or management information systems; or (5)  Experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. (6)  Completion of a one-year program of study from a vocational/technical school in an area of data processing (excluding data entry) can substitute for one year of computer systems analysis and/or computer programming experience.

     DUTIES:  This position is in the Database Administration Section.  It is involved in:

Database management and administration of Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL database technologies. Ensuring database data integrity, security and availability.  Performing database backup, restore and recovery.  Designing, modeling and creating databases.  Developing and maintaining utility programs, scripts and routines for management of database systems hosted on Red Hat LINUX and Windows server systems.  Installing, configuring, patching and maintaining Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL database software and databases.  Supporting database related network connectivity technologies/adapters such as TNS, ODBC, OLEDB, JDBC, JBOSS EAP, JBOSS A-MQ, JBOSS FUSE.  Providing support and diagnostic troubleshooting of web-based and client server applications in a distributed computer systems environment.

Assisting with the establishment and enforcement of policies, standards and procedures related to Database Administration.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of computer operations, procedures and systems; knowledge of computer programming languages; ability to design systems    logic and/or process information logically; ability to analyze and interpret computer program data; ability to identify and define user task needs and/or conduct short range and long range project planning  studies; ability to prepare program   specifications; ability to perform mathematical calculations; ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; ability to communicate technical data processing information effectively.
