POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This is work in a data processing environment in the Division of Disability Determinations (DDD).  The position provides support for users of a statewide multifunction automated office system consisting of personal computers with Microsoft Desktop applications and a case processing package residing on an IBM iSeries.  The position's main focus is as an application analyst in support of the operations case processing legacy software package.  The position falls under the supervision of a Networking Systems & Data Communications Analyst and requires the ability to work both under direct supervision and independently in carrying out the responsibility of the position.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Diagnoses problems recognized in the DDD and SSA software, providing technical solutions and liaison necessary to resolve them.  Designs, develops, and implements specialized programs/routines necessary to resolve them.  Designs, develops, and implements specialized programs/routines necessary to implement and enhance legacy system software.  Works with the case processing software vendor in the resolution of problems and the development of user/operations requested enhancements as directed by Systems Programmer III.

 

Plans, designs, and coordinates a distributed processing system (short term and long term) with statewide or wide area networking; establishes methods and procedures for use of the distributed computer systems including hardware, software, communication, and user training.

 

Assists in the analysis, planning, and development of Distributed Case Processing System (DCPS) projects.  Coordinates and/or participates in the activities necessary to provide comprehensive planning, implementation, and support of DDD/SSA with DCPS.

 

Develops and provides detailed training to DDD users in the use and support of the case processing application.

 

Assesses the effectiveness of hardware, software, and communications performance; analyzes and resolves hardware, software, and communications problems using diagnostic software and/or technical troubleshooting processes.

 

Performs related work as required.

 

Incumbent may have to perform essential services related to systems during periods of disaster or other emergency conditions.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

 Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Desktop applications, and minicomputer connectivity.
