This advertisement is for an SES position located in the Office of Information Technology in Tallahassee, Florida.

Salary Rate: $80,000.18

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY. EMPLOYEES ARE NORMALLY HIRED AT THE MINIMUM OF THE SALARY RANGE.

Under the direction of Secretary, Julie Jones, the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is the 3rd largest state prison system in the country with a budget of 2.4 billion, approximately 97,000 inmates incarcerated and another 167,000 offenders on active community supervision. The DC has 151 facilities and more than 24,000 staff members statewide, making it the State’s largest agency.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

As the Project Management Office (PMO) Manager, this position communicates with, motivates, provides or coordinates training, evaluates employee’s work, plans and directs the employees’ work, and has authority to hire or recommend the hire, transfer or discipline of subordinate employees.

 

  • Manages project and/or project teams with the ability to lead, communicate, and provide written documentation.

  • Person will be responsible to lead project meetings, communicate with project members and involved parties concerning tasks and issues associated with the projects they manage. 

  • Person will also be responsible for maintaining project documentation to include requirements documents, testing documents, planning documents, and status reports.

  • Coordinates the activities in the planning, scheduling, and implementation of information systems or projects which include gathering user requirements, defining systems requirements, and organizing user test plans.

  • Conducts analyses of department operations and interagency operations by discussing business processes, policies, and procedures with department staff and outside agency staff; subsequently, the person will be responsible for documenting their findings in a report.

  • Serves as consultant to higher level supervisory and/or administrative personnel in the planning of information systems or projects.

  • Responsible for monitoring the traceability of project implementations to the requirements defined by the user by maintaining documentation that links user requirements, system requirements, test cases, and implementation together.

  • Participates in regular meetings with technical personnel in reviewing the progress of projects and executive management to provide updates on the progress of projects.

  • Coordinates and/or participates in the development and implementation of department policies and procedures as a result of information system/project implementation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s):

 

Essential/Entry Level KSA’s:

  • Knowledge of mathematics.

  • Ability to process information logically.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

     

Full Performance Level KSA’s:

  • Knowledge of computer programming and systems analysis and design principles and practices.

  • Ability to identify and define user task needs.

  • Ability to conduct short range and long range project planning studies.

  • Ability to write technical data processing reports.

  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
