Staff Development & Training Manager - SES - #70020979

This advertisement is for a part time Selected Exempt Service (SES) position for the Bureau of Human Resources, Staff Development in Central Office located in Tallahassee, FL.

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY. EMPLOYEES ARE NORMALLY HIRED AT THE MINIMUM OF THE SALARY RANGE.

Salary Rate: $26,249.86 annually (This is a part time shared position. The biweekly salary is $1,009.61)

Under the direction of Secretary, Julie Jones, the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is the 3rd largest state prison system in the country with a budget of 2.4 billion, approximately 97,000 inmates incarcerated and another 167,000 offenders on active community supervision. The DC has 151 facilities and more than 24,000 staff members statewide, making it the State’s largest agency.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists with the coordination, implementation and delivery of relevant training programs in response to organizational needs and overall operational functions.

  • Assists with evaluating the effectiveness of training programs through analysis of evaluation documents, and providing reports on effectiveness of results along with recommendations for improvements.

  • Maintains employee training records and tracks employee progress through the Department's electronic system and Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Automated Training Management System.

  • Coordinates training requests with the appropriate department, to include completion of documentation, identification of location, instructors and overnight accommodations as appropriate.

  • Provides audit technical assistance for the Department's internal management review, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC), and American Correctional Association (ACA) by reviewing training standards to ensure relevant documentations and standards have been met.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission functions.

  • Knowledge of the FLAIR system, My Florida Market Place (MFMP), and state issued purchasing cards (P-Cards).

  • Knowledge and experience with compiling and auditing financial reports/documentation.

  • Knowledge of the principles of effective listening and principles and techniques of effective communication.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

  • Knowledge of personal computers.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Ability to run reports.

  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate activities and events. 

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. 

  • Ability to evaluate and analyze training data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
