To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum requirement(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A member of the Florida Bar for two or more years and a minimum of two years of experience as a Florida criminal prosecutor (Assistant State Attorney or Assistant Statewide Prosecutor). Must have a command of Florida DUI law and experience prosecuting DUI offenses and/or experience in administrative proceedings. Member must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.

DUTIES: Incumbent is an attorney within the Office of General Counsel of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, with primary responsibility to represent the Department of Law Enforcement Alcohol Testing Program in state court and in administrative proceedings. This position provides legal services and advice in criminal, legislative, and administrative matters for the Department at the direction of the General Counsel. Including but not limited to cases involving impaired driving, the Intoxilyzer and/or breath test instruments, and chemical tests for impairing substances. In addition, this position is also responsible for coordinating training, review and development of administrative rules and policies, and management of public records and public information. Furthermore, this position is also responsible for representing the department in administrative rule challenges at the Division of Administrative Hearings including appellate actions.

From time to time, the incumbent will be assigned legal training and presentation responsibilities. Incumbent is based in Tallahassee, Florida. In-state travel by car may be required. Furthermore, there may be multiple hearings combined in one road trip. Must have good computer skills, in particular, Microsoft Word, use of Adobe Acrobat, and PowerPoint. Must be an effective communicator and have a practical and workable understanding of the Florida Criminal Justice System, Florida Statutes, Florida Administrative Rules, and the Florida Rules of Criminal and Civil Procedure. Must have the ability to effectively work under occasional stressful deadlines or circumstances. Must be able to clearly articulate and advocate one's position verbally and in writing.

SPECIAL NOTES: Administrative and appellate experience is a plus, but not required.
