Serves as a technical resource to Agency, including

  • Provides technical assistance in data analysis, report development, statistical programming, and interpretation of results;
  • Assists agency in learning new technologies and analytic techniques;
  • Provides technical assistance to agency staff members on research design and statistical analysis;
  • Retrieves, interprets, and reports data information as requested.  Conducts ad hoc research queries as requested;
  • Conducts health services research: compiles, analyzes data and report findings on health care issues;
  • Collaborates with staff to analyze data and communicate results, including formal and informal reporting of work;
  • Produces statutorily mandated reports;
  • Maintains a working knowledge of various health data sources within the Agency and, applicable data query and statistical tools;
  • Maintains knowledge of and utilizes methodologies used by federal agencies;
  • Creates and documents algorithms for data mining;
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of data contents and changes;
  • Remains informed about data collection rules and regulations;
  • Serves on agency teams to provide technical advice and data availability.  Works with other agency offices to manage and assure quality of data provided to the public;
  • Actively participates in staff meetings and training seminars;
  • Maintains proficiency and knowledge of current issues related to work functions and assignments by attending workshops and/or reading professional articles and/or journals.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Skills in utilizing Microsoft office Suite, including Excel, Word, Access, Visio, etc.
  • Proficient in SPSS, SAS, SQL, or other languages.
  • Ability to perform effectively in stressful situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of problem-solving techniques
  • Skills to provide quality customer service
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

  • Two years of professional experience in systems analysis, management analysis, program planning, program research, program evaluation, or engineering work.
  •  A bachelor's degree from a college or university is preferred.
  •  A master's degree from a college or university can substitute for one year of the experience as described above.
  • Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the preferred college education.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience or knowledge using statistical analysis software and SQL.
