Total Compensation Statement

Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent in this position is authorized to direct the driver licensing functions of the Bureau of Credentialing Services in the assigned region, pursuant to the requirements of Chapters 318, 320, 322, and 324, Florida Statutes. The incumbent is authorized to issue driver licenses, identification cards and ensures compliance with Florida law and department rules and regulations for the examination of driver license applicants.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal to include the ability to effectively conduct meetings and to present ideas, plans and recommendations verbally and in writing.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to effectively manage, mentor and monitor staff.
- Effective organizational, multi-tasking and time management skills to include the ability to effectively delegate work assignments and ensure deadlines are met.
- Knowledge of the use performance measuring tools such as Nemo-Q and ability to analyze data and prepare reports.
- Ability to utilize critical thinking and problem-solving techniques to make sound and effective decisions.
- Knowledge of developing and implementing policies and procedures and the ability to analyze processes and implement process improvements.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws relating to driver licensing and the ability to interpret and apply laws, policies and procedures to include personnel rules and procedures, as well as, driver licenses regulations.
- Skill in using personal computers and software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Supervisory/managerial experience to include managing staff schedules, monitoring workload, mentoring staff and conducting performance reviews.
- Experience overseeing operational activities for an office/program to include monitoring and ensuring productivity, quality and/or customer service standards are met.
- Leadership role in a customer service focused environment to include resolving escalated, complex and/or unusual customer service issues.
Job Related Requirements:
- This position will include extensive travel in assigned area, which may include overnight travel.
- In accordance with F.S. 322, selected applicant must possess a valid Class E or higher driver's license; not learner's license and be at least 21 years of age.
- Selected applicants must have no cancellations, suspensions, or revocations of the driving privilege for a minimum of three (3) years prior to employment and must also maintain a driving record with no more than three (3) chargeable motor vehicle crash or any violation defined in Chapter 316, Florida Statutes during any consecutive (3) year period of employment.
- The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
- Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI. Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
- The process for selecting applicant(s) for this position could take up to six months. Following the six-month period, a new application must be submitted to an open advertisement to be considered for that vacancy.
- FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
