Information Technology Business Consultant Manager-SES

The Department of Environmental Protection’s Office of Technology and Information Services (OTIS) is currently recruiting for an Information Technology Business Consultant Manager-SES. This is a dedicated DevOps manager position responsible for coordinating and improving DEP’s capacity for triaging and handling operational issues while advising our team on the process of writing code and engineering systems that will make our entire codebase more reliable, testable, and scalable. Duties include advancing innovative and comprehensive tools and practices to improve deployment and testing; directly supervising our Data Management team and Middle Tier team; and working closely with other system managers and application developers. The incumbent of this position will represent OTIS and must be helpful, cooperative, polite, respectful, and courteous at all times in the interactions with customers.  

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Interact with team members to improve our engineers’ tools, technology stack, and application performance and stability
  • Establish, design, perform, and execute comprehensive technical projects  
  • Research and recommend emerging technologies for inclusion in the agency’s Application Architecture
  • Administer application server infrastructure and coordinate any architectural, infrastructure changes
  • Employ an open-source collaborative development design to broaden each significant feature and compose clear descriptions and PR messages
  • Resolve operational concerns through collaboration with support groups and various engineering teams to plan updates on a quarterly or annual basis
  • Troubleshoot production issues to address technical commitments and boost sustainability
  • Expand the DevOps team by attracting exceptional teammates and ensure their success by acting as a liaison between upper management and employees

 

Job Skills and Qualifications

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to construct and execute network, server, and application status monitoring
  • 10 years of work experience dealing with application platform stacks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
     

Preferred:

 

  • Knowledge and experience with Oracle RDBMS, Linux servers, Java, Docker, and PHP
