Description of Job

This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor I-SES and is responsible for performing skilled electrical work within the Neil Kirkman Complex, including maintenance, installations and repair of electrical equipment and systems. The incumbent of this position will be responsible for reviewing and advising on renovation projects; assist maintenance staff with various construction and maintenance duties; use State vehicle to pick up required materials; and assist the immediate supervisor in responding to emergency conditions affecting readiness and operations.



Preferred Qualifications


Preference will be given to applicants with professional work experience in a high voltage commercial environment.



Special Requirements:

This position requires the incumbent to be a Certified Master Electrician.


The selected applicant must pass a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) criminal history background check.


This position requires the incumbent to have and maintain a valid driver's license in good standing. A driver's license history review will be conducted on all candidates in consideration for the position.


This position may be required to work hours outside of the normal schedule to include evening and/or weekends.



Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Knowledge of procedures and methods for installing, altering, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Skills in use of hand and power tools.
  • Skills in troubleshooting, installing, altering, and maintaining electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Skills in reading electrical diagrams/schematics and calculating electrical loads.
  • Skill in design low and high voltage circuits.
  • Ability to calculate cost estimates.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.



The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
