POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This is a contracted vendor opportunity with the Division of Disability Determinations.  Medical consultants use a computer to complete medical assessments and provide consultant services relative to claims for Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •    Review and evaluate the medical and non-medical evidence in the claimant’s disability file in accordance with the Social Security Administration and Department of Health rules and regulations.

 

  • Prepare a computer-generated assessment of impairment severity and a rationale to support the medical assessment. All work is conducted using multiple computer screens and typed case notes.

 

  • Make phone calls to treating sources, sources of record, consultative physicians and psychologists, and other sources. 

 

  • Offer recommendations to correct areas of insufficient information or unresolved conflicting information.

 

  • Deliver consultant services upon notice of no less than seven calendar days.

 

  • Review, re-evaluate, and correct any Medical Assessment returned, subsequent to review by Department staff or federal review.

 

  • Accept direction from and coordinate service delivery with the Contract Manager.

 

  • Adhere to in-line or end-of-line quality review findings.

 

  • Attend trainings as requested by the Department.

  • Must be a physician with an active license to practice medicine in the State of Florida.
  • Must register as a vendor on MyFloridaMarketplace.com.
  • Must set up an electronic funds transfer (EFT) for payment.
  • Must complete an online, electronic (substitute) W-9
  • Must produce evidence of liability insurance, an affidavit explaining that you meet the insurance exemption requirement as described under Florida Statue 458.320, Section 5.f.1 through 5.f.7 OR an affidavit indicating you qualify to self-insure according to Florida Statute.
  • Must be available a minimum of 24 hours a week Monday through Friday between 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
  • Opportunities for compensation are based on case availability and budget for the current fiscal year, as the DDD contract is a “rate-agreement.” You are not guaranteed any work under the contract terms.
  • All work must be completed on-site

BACKGROUND CHECKS:

This contracted vendor opportunity requires a security background check and/or drug screening and participation in direct deposit.

Employees must be successfully credentialed through the HSPD-12 Tier II background screening process and maintain credentialed and approved access to the SSA Computer Network.
