NETWORK SYSTEMS ANALYST – 71000804

To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in planning or designing network systems; or
  2. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one of the computer sciences or in management information which includes developing or designing network systems; or
  3.  A master's degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems which includes developing or designing network systems; or
  4. One year of experience as described above and either (1) completion of a 720-classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in an area of network systems design and/or development; or
  5. Two years as described above and either (a) completion of a 720-classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in data processing (excluding data entry) or (b) completion of 60 semester or 90 quarter hours from an accredited institution which includes four courses in computer science or management information systems; or
  6. A high school diploma and three years of experience in network, data processing (excluding data entry) electronics or engineering, two years of which must have been in network.
  7. Experience as described, above can be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  8. Completion of and certification in a nationally recognized vendor supplied program of study of four or more weeks (or logged in excess of 160 classroom hours) and certification in a network (hardware, software) program can substitute for one year of the required experience.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The member assigned to this position will be the perform technical assistance, support services and training for users of FDLE information systems.  Specific responsibilities include: 

  • Administering a sophisticated private business exchange Private Branch Exchange (PBX) digital telephone switch supporting both Time-Division Multiplexing (TDM) and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) endpoints, Automated Call Distribution (ACD) system and voice mail system which supports all activities located in the Headquarters complex and select remote FDLE offices;
  • Consulting, coordinating and assisting other members statewide with requests relating to telecommunication systems, equipment, facilities and services;
  • Analyzing and consulting with members in all areas of the Headquarters PBX to coordinate and administer all troubleshooting activities including but not limited to phone number assignments and configuration, phone number terminations, relocations and reassignments or other actions as deemed appropriate;
  • Coordinating the collection, documentation, and processing of telecommunication data relative to the statewide telephone services;
  • Providing guidance and coordination of statewide requests for telecommunication services/facilities relating to landline telephone services;
  • Developing specifications and preparing, reviewing and processing required paperwork and documentation necessary for the procurement of telecommunication equipment and/or services;
  • Overseeing installation of new telephone equipment and services for all FDLE offices that are a part of the FDLE statewide deployed PBX System;
  • Coordinating all data cabling adds, moves and changes for both data and telephone systems in the Tallahassee Region; and
  • Providing first level support for statewide, wide area, local area, or comparable distributed computer systems networks for use by end-users including the hardware, software and communications components of distributed systems.  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of telecommunications principles, equipment, procedures and terminology;
  • Knowledge of voice and data cabling;
  • Knowledge of Network Protocols;
  • Knowledge of the methods of collecting and analyzing data;
  • Knowledge of data processing equipment, terminology and procedures;
  • Knowledge and experience troubleshooting telecommunications issues;
  • Ability to plan and coordinate the development and implementation of telecommunications systems;
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve telecommunication problems;
  • Ability to develop specifications for procuring equipment;
  • Ability to collect, review and analyze data;
  • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments;
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants.
